17th CENTURY HUNTING BANDOLIER

17th century hunting bandolier

This is a probably a civilian bandolier and I think it was used for hunting. It is a waist belt with a buff section that has 6 leather covered tinplate bottles, a primer and a bullet bag. This one is based on one that is in the Royal Armouries Museum and is very similar to one at Haddon Hall. Covering the bottles with leather stops them making so much noise when moving and the buff leather flap keeps out the rain.
